Winter Conditioning

Posted by Adrienne "Bigzee" Biglow, Sophomore Defender from Yakima, WA

Well it's official, winter conditioning is fully underway and I think I can speak for the whole team in saying our bodies are already feeling it! Monday kicked off session one of our morning sprint program and after Wednesday's session we have them counted down to only six more remaining. Although that doesn't sound like a lot, its going to be pretty rough considering almost the entire team spent at least fifteen minutes in the ice bath each day this week and its only the beginning. By the end of the week, the trainers quit asking why we were coming into the training room and just kept the whirl pools ready.

Although winter conditioning is hard , we get a lot of variety in the training schedule that helps make it bearable. Between jump, sprints, individuals, lifting, and captains practices, we really are getting a little bit of everything which is a nice change of pace. Also, this is the time when a lot of our team bonding starts for the next season because we're all struggling through everything together. Not only that, but when we're doing workouts we aren't fully accustomed to, like bounding at jump, sessions are never short of entertainment. Here we get the opportunity to enjoy each others' company in different ways and get to see our teammates in a whole new light. Keep up the hard work girls!

Multiple Reward

Posted by Jaucelyn Richter, Sophomore Forward from Billings, MT

"For every disciplined effort there is a multiple reward." -Jim Rohn

I read this quote and the first thing that came to mind was...fitness testing. Then winter conditioning, jump program, and spring season. The multiple reward? There is no question that all our hard work will pay off come fall season 2011, when we're working towards one goal...the NCAA tournament.

This past week was a challenging one for the team. We just got back into the swing of school and soccer, we've started individual training and we've ran the infamous Beep Test and YBMI. This upcoming week we'll start our morning sprint program and jump program. It is all hard work now, but it will all pay off in the end. On Saturday night, the team attended the MSUB women's basketball game together and it was a blast!! We all had a great time cheering like crazy together, and it was awesome watching the women's team win in the last second! Bottom line, its great to be back with the soccer family and we all look forward to a successful winter/spring!

Back to School

Posted by Andrea Baytaluke, Sophomore Midfielder from Calgary, AB

Well winter break has come to an end and school has already started. As much as I wish I was still at home, visiting family and friends, it was a big relief to see my teammates again. It is crazy to go from seeing each and every one of them every day, to not seeing them at all for a whole month! During season we were a family. We worked together with everything we did, and all that work definitely paid off. We finished off with a great season, and now its time to get right back into it so we can have a great 2011 season.

Everyone worked hard over break and soon we will start our fitness testing, 7am sprints, lifting, Jumps program, individual training and captains practice. Along with school, all of these things are hard to fit in, but like I said, we are a team and all work together to accomplish things the best we can. I can't wait to get out on the field again with the big family and start to play. This spring is going to be filled with hard work and our first goal is to WIN EVERYTHING WE DO.

Lets hit if off to a great start girls!!!!
